Abortion of Ideas
Acrylic paint on wood
My first project was an acrylic painting titled “Abortion of Ideas” which was about censorship in general, and how the artist is limited to work within a set of rules set by the state so that the produced art has the permission to be published, or exhibited in public. "Abortion of Ideas" is about the moment the artist realizes he, himself, is an object, merely a machine, perpetuating the interests of the state. Once he decides to cross the boundaries and voice his objections, he is condemned to what I call here “Abortion of Ideas”. The artist who has realized that he is the means of someone else’s (the state's) piece of ‘art’, which is not by any means “artistic” visualizes his objectification, marked by the lack of freedom of expression.
